Thank you whoever it was for whisking me up electronically and dropping me down in this group. I apologize for my extremely short Arabic vocabulary. Other than simple greetings and the al fatihah I have no experience with Arabic, only English.
My brief introduction is this; I am an American with half Israelite, half Celtic heritage. As such, and being a child of this country, most everything I'd heard about Islam was negative. On 9/11/2001 I witnessed sights and heard things that confirmed what I was previously taught. The next day, I was praying, and the quiet still voice inside told me what I'd never have imagined otherwise--Muhammad is God's Messenger and the Qur'an is from God. I know Who told me that, so without even reading the Qur'an I knew it must contain truth, and something had been horribly misunderstood with catastrophic results. I recited my shahadah two years later, but I could have just as well done it then. Now, I don't understand Islam as many do--I use the Old & New Testaments as floors 1 & 2 atop which sits the Qur'an. As I believe, without the Qur'an, the previous two books lack a roof, but without the previous two books the Qur'an lacks a foundation and understanding collapses in a heap.
As far as I'm concerned, to be a true Christian means respecting God's Messenger, Muhammad (saw), at a minimum, and if one is truly devoted to God they'll desire to learn the parts of God's Message delivered to the Prophet (saw). To be a true Muslim requires following the guidance of the Prophet (saw) to listen to and learn what the Messiah said, too. If more people understood and acted in this manner, the result would truly be Peace, i.e., Islam.
May our time spent together bear the fruits of peace and understanding on this list, in America, and insh'allah, overseas. Please, peace overseas. I want to apologize in advance if my replies to questions are delayed, but I'm actively involved in peace work, and time is limited.
